Find Out More About The Book
For centuries the robust Neanderthals dominated the northern European landscape, hunting, gathering and multiplying. With the arrival of the Cro-Magnon clans, the Neanderthal faced a new and more dangerous enemy that could threaten their very existence. Their plight is told in dramatic fashion in the historical fiction, The Last Neanderthal Clan.

Great story, interesting
I enjoyed your story and liked that it went back and forth between the here and then. Was well written. Made you feel the Neaderthals were more human than what our history teachers told us back when I was a kid. Thanks.

This is historical Fiction at its best!
The genre according to Outskirts Press of this book is FICTION / Fantasy / Historical. All I know is that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! There is a minor sub story about modern day anthropologists but that (thankfully) got lost in the intriguing story of these pre historic peoples. Most of this is fiction but I believe the times were depicted correctly. Of course it has been a while since I took an anthropology course. You travel along with the clan as they make their escapes from other clans farther and farther south as the ice caps recede from the ice age-you live through the dangers and difficulties of the period. You learn about how they possibly lived, shared work and survived all the dangers of that time period. There is even a wolf who was semi domesicated by Raka. This is the last two paragraphs in the book--maybe there will be a sequel--I hope there is (I received the paperback edition of this book for review purposes-all opinions are mine!) Raka lay the burning branch back into the fire and sat near Dawa, as the night grew darker and everyone talked excitedly. They wanted to hear about Raka's journey, Dawa's clan, and the forthcoming baby. The prospects for the Kopsut Clan were looking up; but only time would tell if the clan would prosper south of the great mountains. As for Raka, in the back of his mind, he carried a small worry, that the Nord Clan might find a way through the mountains and find the Kopsut Clan in its new home. A Great Way to Get Lost in the Past
My first response, before even cracking the spine, was 'Oh! A caveman book! How fun!' I wasn't wrong! This was a captivating and enjoyable read. It's so much more than a 'caveman' book, however. The time period is absolutely fascinating. Anyone who knows me is aware of my fascination with cannibals. That was a huge bonus for me. It was amazing how these tribes survived. All of them, not just the cannibals. They had to set up these clans and superstitions and reason led them to make decisions that we wouldn't make with the knowledge we have today. There is no sense of security. There is no 'home'. It's the open field and movable tents and scavenging in order to eat. It's praying that deities will protect you and let you live another day. It's having to be the most intelligent and strong. There's a sense of constant peril that follows you throughout the book. It keeps you on your toes because anything can happen. As for the characters, I found myself completely immersed in each generation. Though this is Raka's story, it starts long before him. The people are alive and you feel a kinship with them. All of their hopes and fears are laid bare for you, as the reader, to grab onto and make your own. Normally, I'm a dialogue junkie, but you'll not find dialogue here. People communicate with each other in a different way. It was actually calming to read without hearing voices in my head. My only complaint with this book is Charlie. No, not the author Charlie, but the low life Charlie who in fiction is writing the story. Every time we stepped out of the Neanderthal world and back into today's society to found out how Charlie was doing on his research, I felt like I was being ripped out of my skin. It doesn't happen too often, but I found it annoying and unnecessary.

NEANDERTHALS and CRO-MAGNONS
THE LAST NEANDERTHAL CLAN brings you a combination of Fiction, Fantasy and History. It is a most interesting story about pre historic people. The authors seem to have done some extensive research on this book even though it is fiction. It appeared that the era was described very well. Thousands of years ago. after the earth had been in a hard freeze, the earth began to warm, glaciers began to melt and the rivers ran strong and full. The ice no longer kept the clans from leaving to explore lands unknown to them. As the book opens the Neanderthals, known as the southern clans were struggling to just survive. This clan is slowly disappearing. For many years the strong Neanderthals ruled the northern part of the European countryside. They hunted and gathered their food. The population in the clan grew. That was to change as the Cro-Magnon clans , the northern clans, arrived. The strongest clan of the Cro-Magnons was the Nord Clan. They believe in hunting and killing. Some of the northern clans even resort to cannibalism. This meant that the Neanderthal clan have a new and dangerous foe. The Cro-Magnons could threaten their very existence. The Nord Clan leader, Carni fathers a child with a Neanderthal woman. He leaves her and his child with her Neanderthal clan. The Nord Clan was searching for slaves, Neanderthal slaves. As time goes on, the Neanderthal child, Raka is left to lead his clan, what there is of it, to find new grounds for hunting and to get away from the northern clans. This journey was a fight for survival. They encountered many trials which threatened their survival. Raka had another worry. Would the Cro-Magnon clan follow them to their new land? Will they be in search again for a place that is safe.? Published August 16th 2013 by Outskirts Press. I think the authors did a wonderful job of giving us an adventure with the "cave men". The writing was very descriptive and the story flowed nicely. The only thing I didn't care for was the part about the modern day anthropologist. I think the book didn't need it. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I believe I will read it again after a while. So pick up a copy of THE LAST NEANDERTHAL CLAN and sit back for an adventure into the lives of the Cro-Magnon and the Neanderthal clans. Oh, by the way, don't forget your club.

Fantastic.
Superb, love the series.
Charlie Boring
Charlie Boring shared a lifelong interest in prehistoric civilizations with his late daughter, Lisa. Lisa grew up listening to Charlie’s tales about cave-dwelling clans, and the characters in those stories have been developed and expanded in The Last Neanderthal Clan. Charlie has drawn upon a lifetime of study of anthropology to make the book as realistic as possible.
